KUNDALINI AND HEALTH

Getting a Handle on Kundalini
There are as many opinions about Kundalini as there are people who dabble in it. That's one of the problems with natural phenomena like Kundalini. Few people understand its origins, its purpose, and the way it really works. My understanding of Kundalini stems from years of watching it heal and recondition my body, not from any insight into the nature of consciousness.
Claims such as, a clearer understanding of God, expanded consciousness, enlightenment, visions, oneness with humanity, unity with the Creator, absorption into the Great Chain of Being are difficult to reconcile. Some see divine creatures, others flashing red lights, many feel overwhelmed and are moved to tears, some speak of the Godhead or special powers, others offer horror stories. But is there a consistent theme to these Kundalini stories? No one has ever been able to compile one because the reports are so subjective and so varied. This makes the whole subject of Kundalini an easy target for polemics and leads away from its tangible benefits. And if this is the case, is it worthwhile defining Kundlini from reports we cannot reconcile?

Let's Define Kundalini by What it can Accomplish
From my own experience, I'm convinced Kundalini is the key to higher consciousness and a more highly evolved human life form. The problem is I can't prove it. First because so little is understood about consciousness and how it evolves. And second, except for the personal testimonies of a few practitioners, little is known about Kundalini. So when I say that Kundalini is responsible for the evolution of human consciousness, I'm extrapolating; I've never observed or experienced this phenomena. But suppose I can demonstrate that Kundalini has tangible therapeutic health benefits and amazing restorative capabilities–capabilities that I have observed and experienced first hand.
I am 68 years old and practice Yoga every day. I run in the woods near my home. I play tennis and squash. I take no pills or supplements. How am I able to do it? Quite simply, Kundalini has kept my body fit because it keeps vital energy flowing through my neural passages, which in turn keeps my body fit.
My book, Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time, introduces dramatic proof of healing, restoration, and transformation, empirical proof that the first purpose of Kundalini is cleansing and purification of our bodies.

Kundalini, Nature's Secret Healing Power
After years of abuse and mistreatment, most of us aren't proud of our bodies. Suffice it to say we could be in better shape. Many of us are severely impaired or damaged by disorders traceable to neural dysfunction. Fortunately, by including a mechanism in our bodies—a mechanism many don't know about or much less understand, a dormant mechanism we can awaken through meditation—nature has provided a solution. This mechanism, called Kundalini, revitalizes our damaged nervous systems and reconditions our bodies.

What Kind of Damage does Kundalini Repair?
Chronic pain or headache, post-operative conditions, stress, back pain, neuritis, arthritis, neuralgia, nervous disorders, polio after effects, any condition exacerbated by nerve damage.
I have a friend, a Yoga teacher, who recently wrote to me: “You'd think that Yoga could be the answer, but lots of my students injure themselves in forward and backward bends, twists and inversions. As was reported in that NYT piece, 'Knees, shoulders, hips and the lower back, we all have vulnerabilities that surface over time.' Lots of people have no business standing on their shoulders when they have cervical spine problems; nor should those with S/I stresses be practicing seated forward bends. And don't even get me started on the dangers of repetitive practices like the 50 sun salutations I've seen in a class. 100 chataranga = rotator cuff breakdown.”
Kundalini Yoga avoids this type of stress. And that's why Kundalini Yoga is so powerful. Its power is derived from stillness, not hyper-activity or movement. (Read Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time for more information.)

A Metaphor for Kundalini Healing
Suppose you saw halfway through a tree branch. The branch continues to live, but compared to its undamaged counterparts, the sawed branch starts to wither. Leaves fall off, twigs and branches turn brittle, and eventually it will die. Trees, you see, have no means of revitalizing damaged limbs. They don't bother with dying limbs, they merely grow new ones. Unlike trees that simply grow new branches, humans have no limbs to spare. They do, however, possess a mechanism for revitalization—Kundalini.

Through meditation the nervous system is stimulated such that the natural chemical substances of body are recombined and used for healing. My book, Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time, describes this process. It details my self-inflicted deformity, my search for answers, the discovery of RM, an amazing method of meditation that awakens Kundalini in a controlled predictable manner.
